FORT MYERS, Fl - The Clearwater Threshers knocked off the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels 5-4 in ten innings for a second straight win to conclude a 12-game road trip on Sunday afternoon at Hammond Stadium.

Left-hander Jordan Fowler made his second start of the season on the mound for Clearwater, allowing only one run on three hits and striking out three in three innings of work.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, the Threshers (7-14, 42-44) used a two out walk from Andrick Nava and an RBI triple by Micah Yonamine to tie the contest.

After the Mighty Mussels (7-11, 48-34) scratched across runs in the fourth and fifth off relievers Carlos Betancourt and Matt Osterberg to build a 3-1 lead, the Threshers rallied for a three-run inning in the sixth. An RBI single by catcher Arturo De Freitas, an RBI groundout by Yonamine and an RBI single by Wilfredo Flores gave the Threshers a 4-3 lead.

Following a second weather delay in the seventh, the Mighty Mussels evened the game 4-4 on an RBI sac-fly by Rubel Cespedes in the eighth off lefty Tristan Garnett. It was the first earned run Garnett allowed this season, but the southpaw bounced back to work a scoreless ninth and was eventually credited with his second win of the year.

Tied 4-4 in the tenth, and with an automatic base runner placed on second, second baseman Kendall Simmons lined an RBI base hit into left with two outs to give the Threshers a 5-4 advantage.

Right-hander Alex Garbrick became the seventh pitcher of the game for the Threshers in the bottom of the tenth, and despite loading the bases, worked a scoreless frame with two strikeouts to secure his third save of the season and a 5-4 victory.

After a four-day break during All-Star week, the Threshers will return home to open a three-game weekend series with the Bradenton Marauders on Friday, July 22 at BayCare Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with coverage on the Threshers Broadcasting Network set to begin at 6:20 p.m.
