June 3, 2007 - Midwest League (MWL1)
West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK - Michael Bertram delivered an RBI single for the Whitecaps in the bottom of the first inning and Chris Cody pitched 1.1 perfect innings before play was suspended due to rain in the second inning with West Michigan leading Fort Wayne, 1-0.
The game will be resumed on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. With the Wizards batting, there is one out and an 0-1 count on Rayner Contreras, the fifth hitter in the Fort Wayne lineup.
Both the annual Day of Inspiration, presented by Covenant Village of the Great Lakes and Meet the Players Party have been postponed. Scheduled guest post game speakers for the Day of Inspiration included NFL players Jay Reimersma and Mitch Lyons.
The suspended game will be completed as a nine inning game. A seven inning game will follow as the regularly scheduled game for Monday.
Tickets for Sunday's event can be exchanged for any remaining 2007 Whitecaps home game.
West Michigan plans to use RHP Jeff Gerbe (0-0, 2 saves, 1.26) when play resumes on Monday. Gerbe was the regularly scheduled starter. RHP Josh Rainwater will be on the hill for game two.
Fort Wayne has not announced its pitching plans but Stevie Delabar (0-0, 54.00) was slated to start on Monday.
