Rain Suspends P-Nats and Dash in Fourth

(WINSTON-SALEM, NC) - Tonight's game between the Potomac Nationals and Winston-Salem Dash has been suspended in the top of the fourth inning with the score 1-1 due to rain. The game will be resumed tomorrow at 5:30 PM with a seven-inning game after the conclusion of the suspended game.

There was a 31 minute rain delay that pushed the start back to 7:31 PM.

Potomac opened the scoring in the third off of Dash starter Jake Petricka with Franciso Soriano stealing home on a failed pick-off giving the Nationals a 1-0 lead. Adrian Sanchez was caught between first and third but Soriano scored on the rundown that resulted a 1-3-1-6-4-6 caught stealing.

Winston-Salem evened the score in the bottom half of the inning. P-Nat starter Adam Olbrychowski hit Brady Shoemaker on a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded that tied the game 1-1. It was the league-leading 47th RBI for Shoemaker.

Play halted at 8:29 PM when lightning hit near the stadium and the game was eventually suspended after a one hour and 31 minute delay.

The game will be resumed with David Freitas at the plate with a 0-0 count, no out and no on in the top of the fourth inning. The score is tied 1-1.

Potomac and Winston-Salem finish their three-game series tomorrow at 5:30 PM in North Carolina. The P-Nats send LHP Robbie Ray (3-2, 4.58) to the hill for the second game to be completed. The Nationals return home to Pfitzner Stadium Thursday, June 21st against the Winston-Salem Dash.
