Amarillo ThunderHeads News Release
AMARILLO, TX - Tonight's game has been called due to inclement weather. The Sox were trailing 6-3 in the top of the sixth inning with two outs and two runners on base but that is where the game will end. The Airhogs get the win and the series victory at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium in front of 3,242 in attendance. Official game time was two hours and twenty minutes.
Sox starter, Ryan Mitchell (L, 0-2) pitched three innings and allowed six runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three. James Adkins (W, 1-0) gets the win, going five innings and giving up three runs on eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
Grand Prairie scored four runs in the second with doubles from Kenny Held and Brandon Pinckney, an RBI triple by Yasutsugu Nishimoto, and another RBI by Brian Myrow. Two runs in the third inning were provided by a Joe Anthonsen error at second, three straight singles, and a wild pitch to make it 6-0.
After KC Serna reached base on a Pinckney error at second, Trey Ford made it 6-2 on a bomb to left, his third of the season. Anthonsen singled next and would score on a Chris Valencia RBI groundout to bring the Sox within three. John Holdzkom came in relief for Amarillo, pitched one-two-three fourth and fifth innings, and would be brought out and replaced by Greg Miller, who walked Myrow with two outs in the sixth when the game was called.
