Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Lewin Diaz hit his eighth home run of the month, but a downpour forced the series opener between the Miracle and Bradenton Marauders to be suspended in the fourth inning with the Miracle trailing the Marauders, 3-1.
The suspended game will continue on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the top of the fourth inning. When play resumes, the Marauders will have runners at first and second and two outs. Daniel Amaral will face a 2-1 count.
Bradenton scored two runs in the top of the first on a Chris Sharpe double to center. Diaz's blast in the bottom of the frame, his eighth home run of the season, was also his eighth home run of the month of May. Diaz has now tied former Miracle Kennys Vargas (2013) for the most homers in the month of May in franchise history.
Travis Swaggerty led off the third inning with a solo home run to push the Bradenton lead to 3-1.
After finishing the suspended game, the teams will play Tuesday's regular scheduled game, which will be seven innings.
