Louisville Bats News Release

Louisville, KY - The Bats finally got started against the Bisons in the third game of the series after an hour-and-a-half rain delay on Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. Louisville fell 2-1 after being unable to rally from an early deficit against the Bisons. There were 7,299 fans that braved the weather to be in attendance.

The Bisons were ready to play despite the wait and showed it with the first at-bat. Lead-off man Argenis Reyes hit a deep shot to right that landed in the bleachers, giving Buffalo the early lead. It was only Reyes second home run of the season.

Buffalo managed to add another run in the second, starting when Nick Evans reached first on an error by Bats third baseman Wes Bankston. Bisons starter Kyle Snyder then ripped a single to left scoring Evans and giving Buffalo the 2-0 lead.

The Bats finally managed a response in the bottom half of the third after Bats starter Ramon Ramirez helped out his own cause by hitting an infield single. Darnell McDonald then hit an RBI double down the left-field line, scoring Ramirez.

Unfortunately, it was the only run the Bats could muster on a chilly, rainy night in Louisville.

Ramon Ramirez (5-7, 4.39) took the loss for the Bats, going seven innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on seven hits, while striking out seven. The seven-strikeout performance ties his season-high, which he also did on May 15 at Durham.

Louisville was led offensively by McDonald and Barker, who both had multi-hit games and doubles for the Bats. McDonald had the only RBI, while Ramirez scored the only run. Bankston and Ramirez also collected a hit for Louisville.

The Bats (55-42) finish up the series against Buffalo (35-58) Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field at 7:05pm. Probable starters are LHP Ben Jukich (6-4, 4.62) for the Bats and RHP Nelson Figueroa (6-4, 2.32) for the Bisons.
