Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, AL - The BayBears took four games in their five game series with Jacksonville, finishing Wednesday with a rain-shortened 9-2 victory. The BayBears sent 11 batters to the plate in the third inning, scoring seven runs. Greg Smith (1-1) was the winning pitcher in his first start at Hank Aaron Stadium. Offensively, Smith was 3-for-3 with a double and a home run.
Justin Upton hit his fourth home run in three games with Mobile, a two-run shot in the third inning rally. Carlos Gonzalez added a solo home run, his third on the season. Emilio Bonifacio was 3-for-4 atop Mobile's lineup, and Jarred Ball added two doubles from the second spot.
Heavy rains poured at Hank Aaron Stadium, shortening the BayBears win between the top and bottom of the sixth inning.
The BayBears next travel to Chattanooga, with RHP Chris Kinsey (1-3) taking the mound for Mobile against the Reds Double-A affiliate. To order BayBears tickets, or tickets to the games between Team USA and Team China, call 251-479-2327, or visit mobilebaybears.com.
