
RailHawks Women Drop Home Opener 5-0

Cary, NC (Friday, May 16th, 2008) - The Carolina RailHawks Women lost their home opener on Friday night 5-0- against a more seasoned and experienced Atlanta Silverbacks. The RailHawks played without US U-20 National Team forward Casey Nogueira, who is training in South Carolina for the U-20 CONCACAF Championships, against a team that sported six former WUSA players and was the 2007 W-League Championship finalist. Former WUSA standout Christine Latham scored two goals and W-League veteran forward Sarah Steinmann tallied a hat-trick to fix the score on 5-0. The Carolina RailHawks never stopped attacking coming close getting on the board in the 81st minute with a beautiful header from a corner kick by RailHawks Captain Thori Bryan.
The Carolina RailHawks USL-1 Men's team will host the Minnesota Thunder this Sunday, May 18th at 7:30 PM at WakeMed Soccer Park. The RailHawks organization will make history again next week by hosting the first of two W-league/USL-1 double headers this season. On Saturday May 24th the RailHawks Women will host the Carolina Dynamo at 4:00 PM and the RailHawks men will host their arch rivals from New York, the Rochester Rhinos at 7:30 PM at WakeMed Soccer Park.
