Atlanta, GA (October 25, 2014) - The Carolina RailHawks (11W-4D-11L, 37 Pts.) needed a win in Atlanta to keep their postseason dreams alive and with two goals from Nacho Novo and Devon Sandoval the RailHawks were able to do just that, as they rolled to victory over the Silverbacks (6W-5D-15L, 23 Pts.).

"ªThe RailHawks were unable to achieve any type of offensive flow in the first portion of the first half, but momentum swung in the favor of the RailHawks after goalkeeper, Scott Goodwin, came up with a tremendous penalty kick save on Silverbacks forward, Jaime Chávez in the 35th minute of play.

Following Goodwin's save, the RailHawks stormed down the field with a newfound sense of urgency. Maintaining persistent possession, the RailHawks were able to force a fortunate bounce, as Atlanta's goalkeeper misplayed a ball that a well positioned Devon Sandoval put into the back of the net from close range.

"ªCarolina proceeded to open the second half with the same intensity with which they closed the first, and it didn't take long for them to add to their score. After being fouled in the box, the RailHawks sent Nacho Novo to the spot to take a penalty kick, and like clockwork, Novo capitalized, sending the ball just past the outstretched fingers of Atlanta's goalkeeper in the 47th minute of play.

"ªNovo's goal gave the RailHawks a 2-0 lead, and Carolina never looked back from there. The three points that Carolina picked up tonight kept them alive in the the hunt for the fourth spot in the NASL Championship, only two points behind the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers who currently sit in fourth.

"ªOn Saturday, November 1st, the RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park for Fan Appreciation Night to take on Minnesota United FC in the final game of the 2014 NASL Regular Season. Prior to the game, the RailHawks will be hosting its 3rd Annual pre-game Soktoberfest festival.
