Cary, NC (Monday, March 9, 2009) - The Carolina RailHawks announced today the unveiling of the "Spread Your Wings" Foundation geared towards providing help and education for underprivileged youth while promoting health and fitness and providing positive role models in the community. The foundation was announced at the Umstead Hotel and SPA in Cary during the presentation of the "Community Shield" match where the RailHawks will face Major League Soccer's New England Revolution on Saturday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park. Tickets ($10, $15 and $20) are available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK (5425) or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.

"We always wanted to promote health and fitness where needed," said RailHawks President Brian Wellman. "We have already been working with underprivileged youth in different capacities and wanted to bring everything under the RailHawks umbrella. We are certain that our players will benefit from working with underprivileged youth as much as we hope the organizations we work with will benefit from having us there."

"One of the key components of building a successful team is providing positive role models in the community," said RailHawks Head Coach Martin Rennie. "I am confident that the players we have will put the same amount of effort in what they do off the field as well as on the field. We are grateful to have the foundation help provide assistance for underprivileged youth."

The "Spread Your Wings" Foundation, established in 2009, will continue to provide the same assistance to local community organizations that the RailHawks have been providing for the past two seasons. Through the foundation, players will be able to go into organizations such as Learning Together, the Salvation Army and the Boys and Girls Club and help the counselors and teachers with educational programs and other activities. They will continue to promote healthy living and fitness while providing positive role models to our youth.

The RailHawks will also host soccer clinics for the underprivileged where children can learn tips and tricks from their favorite players while continuing to stay fit and learning important values.

The Carolina RailHawks' 2009 season ticket drive is in full swing with the "All-Inclusive" package, that includes the Major League Soccer exhibition against the New England Revolution on March 14, and the CD Olimpia exhibition on March 27, as well as other packages tailored to every soccer fan's needs.
