North Carolina FC News Release
Cary, NC (Friday, May 07, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks (1-1-1) face Miami FC (0-0-3) on Saturday night at FIU's Lockhart Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and fans can see the match live online at www.miamifc.com.
"We're looking forward to the match," said RailHawks Head Coach Martin Rennie. "Miami made some improvements in the off-season and is still undefeated. A lot of credit goes to Caleb Patterson who made some great saves for them. I've worked with him for two seasons and he is an excellent young goalkeeper who keeps getting better as he grows."
Miami made a coaching change in the off season and brought in some reinforcements including former RailHawk Caleb Patterson-Sewell. Patterson, together with Eric Reed, split duties between the goal posts in 2009 and helped the RailHawks to their best season in franchise history. Last season, they posted a 0.63 goals against average and conceded only 19 goals with a combined 109 saves.
"I'm excited to face my former teammate," said RailHawks Goalkeeper Eric Reed. "We had a chance to train and grow together for a full season and it is great to see him have success at his new club. No matter who we face, however, we always want to play the best soccer on the field and come home with a positive result."
The RailHawks return home next Friday, May 14 to host the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday, May 14 at 7 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. The match is presented by Time Warner Cable and all children in attendance will receive thunder sticks courtesy of North Carolina's premiere cable company. Tickets ($10, $15 and $20), for the match are available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-5425 or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
