North Carolina FC News Release

Rochester, NY (July 17, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks (6-3-6, 24 pts) topped the Rochester Rhinos (7-4-6, 27 pts) 1-0 on Saturday night. Sallieu Bundu tallied the game's only goal in the 14th minute, giving the RailHawks their fifth road win of the season.

"It was an excellent goal that we scored in the first half," said RailHawks head coach Martin Rennie. "I feel like we played well and defended well. We're really happy to pick up nine points from our last four games on the road."

Sallieu Bundu put the RailHawks on top 1-0 in the 14th minute minute when he banged in a cross from Josh Gardner. Mark Schulte jumpstarted the scoring sequence when he played a perfectly placed long ball to Josh Gardner. Gardner raced past his defender on the right flank and sent in a low cross for Bundu.

The RailHawks came out in the second half and maintained their shape defensively, stifling and frustrating the Rhinos attack. In the 60th minute, goalkeeper Eric Reed made a sprawling save, robbing the Rhinos of their best scoring chance of the game.

With Saturday night's win, the RailHawks closed out their road trip 3-1-0, strengthening their hold on second place in the NASL conference.

Next, the RailHawks return home to kick off a four game homestand on July 27 when they host the Rochester Rhinos at 7 p.m. It will be Brewsday Tuesday as all draft beer will only be $1. $49 Family Four-packs are also available for advance purchase for this match.
