North Carolina FC News Release

APEX, N.C. - What would you look like bald? Amir Lowery, Caleb Norkus, Noel Anderson, and several players from the Carolina RailHawks Men's Soccer Team will answer that question on Saturday, September 19th from 4 -6 p.m. at XIOS Authentic Greek Restaurant off Highway 55 in Apex, when they shave their heads to raise awareness about childhood cancer.

Fun and free activities for the entire family include Cotton the Clown, the magic of Michael Casey, face painters, balloon animals, music and special appearances by your favorite RailHawks Soccer players and their mascot, Swoops.  The RailHawks team will show in force to cheer on their soon-to-be-bald team mates, with deejay Maverick from 94.7 WQDR on hand to emcee the event. XIOS will donate $1 for every gyro sold, and $2 drafts will be on tap, compliments of Mutual Distribution of Raleigh. An All day wine tasting with proceeds going to St. Baldrick's will be held compliments of Apex Beverage Company. Last year's 1st annual event raised $8,000.

The Foundation has issued a lofty challenge to everyone who wants to help raise money for childhood cancer research: Be a hero for kids with cancer by shaving your head, or supporting someone who does, in return for pledges of financial support from friends and family. For information about how to participate in the head-shaving event, go to www.stbaldricks.org and click on "Be a Shavee."

St. Baldrick's is a non-profit Foundation that raises money for childhood cancer research primary through head-shaving events.  The mission of the Foundation is to raise awareness and funds to cure kids' cancer by supporting cancer research and fellowships. Since its inception in 2000, over 72,000 shavees have shaved their heads at more than 1,200 events, raising over $46 million dollars.  For more information please visit www.StBaldricks.org.
