The Carolina RailHawks ended their two game road trip in Sherbrooke, Canada on Sunday with a tie against the Montreal Impact. The final score was 2-2 as both teams fought hard on the pitch to take home the three points but were only able to earn one each.
The match was marred by a brawl in the sixth minute that resulted in the ejection of RailHawks' Anthony Maher and the Impacts' Andres Arango. Carolina spent most of the first half pushing to get an early score and Joey Worthen found the back of the net twice early on.
Montreal Picked up the pace in the middle third of the match and was able to score twice within two minutes with Charles Gbeke scoring both tallies. It was a very physical match with referee Rob Antle handing out a total of 11 cards throughout the game in addition to the two red cards at the beginning.
The Carolina RailHawks will host the Montreal Impact in the second of four regular season meetings on Friday, July 13th at SAS Soccer Park in Cary at 7:30 PM. The RailHawks will continue their quest for the US Open Cup the following Sunday, July 15th as they host Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire in the third round at SAS Soccer Park at 7:30 PM
