North Carolina FC News Release

The Cary RailHawks PDL team announced the naming of Dewan Bader and Henry Gutierrez to the Head Coach and Assistant Coach posts of the RailHawks PDL franchise. Both have strong ties to the local community, having played at North Carolina State University, and are currently coaching with Triangle youth clubs.

"We're excited to have Dewan Bader join our organization," said Cary RailHawks PDL President and Carolina RailHawks Assistant Coach Damon Nahas. "His experience both as a player and a coach will help us take our organization to the next level. Together with Henry Gutierrez, I'm sure that their knowledge and experience will give us the opportunity to fight for the championship while continuing the tradition of developing great players in this area."

The Director of Coaching at Raleigh's Triangle Futbol Club, Dewan Bader is a veteran player with over ten years of professional experience in the USL and MISL. He won an indoor championship with the Cleveland Crunch and two with the Baltimore Blast while spending his outdoor career with teams like the Richmond Kickers, the Lehigh Valley Steam and the Raleigh Flyers. He was also a member of the US Futsal Team and was in the US Youth National Team Pool.

A back to back ACC player of the Year in 1990 and 1991, Henry Gutierrez was a member of the same NC State team as Dewan Bader and Carolina RailHawks Head Coach Scott Schweitzer, which took top honors at the ACC Championship and went to the NCAA Final Four in 1990. After spending the beginning of his 10 year professional career in France he returned to the states to play with such teams as the Rochester Rhinos and the Miami Fusion (MLS), where he was named MVP and Budweiser leading scorer in 2000. As a youth Henry participated in two World Cup competitions with the U16 team in China and with the U20 team in Chile. He is the Technical Director for the Futbolhouse Youth Development program and coaches with the Fuquay - Varina Athletic Association.

Dewan and Henry plan to build on last season's PDL team by bringing back local talent from Duke, UNC, NC State and the 2007 NCAA Champion Wake Forest. Fans can expect to see strong ACC players such as Evan Brown and Cary's own Michael Callahan and Zach Schilawski.

"I feel that with the professional careers that Henry and I have had, combined with the fact that we are only a few years removed from playing ourselves, we can provide an atmosphere where the players will continue to develop, and give themselves the best opportunity to play professional soccer in the US or abroad," said Dewan Bader. "We look forward to bringing together a group of athletes from arguably the best soccer region in the country, and ultimately hope to compete for the national championship."

The Cary RailHawks PDL U-23 is a joint venture between Next Level Academy and the Carolina RailHawks FC. In the 2007 Season they played a sixteen game campaign finishing fifth in the Southeast Division of the Southern Conference, with 24 points and a 7-6-3 record. In 2008 they will play eight home games at WakeMed Soccer Park and tickets are available through the Carolina RailHawks Box Office and at Next Level Academy.

The Carolina RailHawks are a United Soccer Leagues team that entered the USL First Division in April 2007. The squad played 14 regular season home games and seven additional home playoff, exhibition and US Open Cup games in its Inaugural Season, with all home games played at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Under Rochester Rhinos co-owner and USL Hall of Fame inductee Chris Economides, the RailHawks organization was formed in October 2005 and awarded the USL franchise in January 2006. In September of 2007 the Carolina RailHawks announced the addition of a USL W-League team under the direction of Head Coach Jay Howell.
