Cary, NC - The Charleston Battery defeated the Carolina RailHawks 2-1 on Saturday night in front of over 4500 fans. Two former RailHawks scored for Charleston with Dan Antoniuk in the 3rd minute and Frankie Sanfilippo in the 54th. Gavin Glinton scored for Carolina only a minute after entering the game in the 73rd. Both teams ended the match a man down as Amir Lowery saw red early on in the 18th minute and John Wilson was ejected later in the game in the 83rd. Fans had to endure a 1 hour delay after a quick powerful storm knocked out the power in WakeMed Soccer Park.

"I don't think we started the match very well," said RailHawks Head Coach Martin Rennie. "I am pleased with the way we played after we went down to ten men. We worked as hard as we could and in the end we were unlucky not to get something out of the game. I said at halftime that if we believed in it we could get something out of it. I think we did but it was a little too late."

Despite the loss the RailHawks (3-2-1) are still leading the USL First Division tables with ten points.

Next the RailHawks embark on a three-game road trip that will take them to Miami (May 16), Cleveland (May 22) and Austin (May 24). The May 22 Cleveland match will be broadcast nationally on Fox soccer Channel while the games in Miami and Austin will be broadcast on www.USLLive.com. Carolina returns home on May 29 at 8 p.m. to host the Cleveland City Stars at WakeMed Soccer Park. Tickets ($10, $15 and $20) may be purchased at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK (5425) or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
