CARY, NC (Monday, April 02, 2007) -- The Carolina RailHawks soccer club have secured 50,000-watt WSHA FM 88.9 as the flagship play-by-play radio station for the team's inaugural season, which kicks off on Saturday, April 21, at SAS Soccer Stadium in Cary, N.C. The Carolina RailHawks take on the Minnesota Thunder in the Inaugural Match.

"We are thrilled to be able to offer our fans the opportunity to listen to all our games across the Triangle and beyond with such a strong partner in WSHA FM 88.9," said Chris Economides, President and General Manager of the Carolina RailHawks. "We look forward to working with WSHA during the season with on-air promotional contests and regular interviews with our coaches and players."

As part of the flagship agreement, WSHA will broadcast a 15-minute pre-game show and a 15-minute post-game show that will include inside interviews with the RailHawks coaches and players. Every game on the Carolina RailHawks schedule, both home and away, will be broadcast.

"WSHA is delighted to have the Carolina RailHawks as one of our partners in the service of the community," said Dr. Emeka Emekauwa, General Manager of WSHA. "WSHA is the first public radio station in North Carolina to broadcast soccer games and with the Carolina RailHawks, the community will always get the best."

Curtis Media Group General Manager Dean Linke, who served as the play-by-play voice of the WUSA's Carolina Courage (2001-03) and Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids (1996-99), will handle play-by-play duties for all of the RailHawks games, including exhibition games and postseason matches.

WSHA FM 88.9 is a public radio station licensed to Shaw University in Raleigh. The station has been broadcasting a mix of contemporary jazz and blues as well as Shaw University's sporting events in the Triangle for more than 35 years.

The Carolina RailHawks are a United Soccer League expansion team that will enter the USL First Division in April 2007. The squad will play 14 regular season home games and four additional home playoff and exhibition games each year, with all home games played at SAS Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Under Economides, the Rochester Rhinos co-owner and USL Hall of Fame inductee, the RailHawks organization was formed in October 2005 and awarded the USL franchise in January 2006.
