October 26, 2013 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, NC - It was a night of first, as the Carolina RailHawks (6W-2T-5L, 20pts) defeated the Atlanta Silverbacks (4W-4T-5L, 16pts) 4-0 and extended their home unbeaten streak to 15 matches. The RailHawks earned their first win over Atlanta in 2013 with a dominating performance and goals from Henry Kalungi, Austin da Luz, Nick Addlery and Brian Shriver.
Kalungi and Addlery tallied their first goals for the RailHawks, Tim Murray earned his first NASL start and shutout and Luciano Delbono made his RailHawks debut. Delbono's appearance made him the 13th RailHawks player with North Carolina ties to appear in a 2013 match for the RailHawks.
"It was a great team performance all around," said RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke. "There were standout performances all over the field from Nick Addlery and Enzo Martinez and all the way back to Tim Murray in goal. Each player stepped up when called upon and we turned in one of our best performances on the year."
Delbono came on as a substitute for an injured Kupono Low and in the 89th minute earn a penalty kick after beating the Atlanta defender in the box. Shriver converted the penalty kick for his 13th goal of the year to lead the NASL scoring chart.
The RailHawks came out on fire and struck early in the 10th and 20th minute with goals from Kalungi and da Luz, respectively. Kalungi scored a header off a corner kick when Zack Schilawski nodded the ball back across the face of the goal mouth to Kalungi. It would be another cross from Enzo Martinez who found a leaping da Luz for the RailHawks' second goal.
In the 66th minute, Schilawski got his second assist of the night when he found a streaking Addlery down the middle of the field. After Addlery out-muscled an Atlanta defender, he finished the 1-on-1 chance against the Atlanta goalkeeper.
The RailHawks return to WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, November 2nd at 7:30 p.m. for their NASL Regular Season Finale against the San Antonio Scorpions. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a 2013 RailHawks team poster. Ticket packages for the RailHawks 2014 Season are on-sale now and include great benefits.
