North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, NC - A strong first half was all the Carolina RailHawks (1W-0T-3L, 3pts) needed to defeat Ottawa Fury FC (0W-1T-2L, 1pt) on Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. Two goals from Zack Schilawski gave the RailHawks the lead going into half-time, while an early second-half goal by Nazmi Albadawi secured the three points for the RailHawks.
The RailHawks went into halftime with a 2-0 lead over the Ottawa Fury FC after Schilawski found the back of the goal twice. His first goal of the match came off a deflected cross inside the box from Enzo Martinez. The second goal of the match came after Cesar Elizondo recovered the ball in the middle of the field and with a clinical pass found Schilawski open up front. After a quick first touch, he sent the ball over Ottawa's goalkeeper Devala Gorrick.
For his performance in the game, the Triangle Soccer Fanatics awarded Zack Schilawski, the Lonerider Growler of the match.
The Fury had a few limited chances in the second half, but the RailHawks dominated most of the possession. In the 48th minute, Nazmi Albadawi found the ball inside of the area and scored a crafty diving header.
The RailHawks will return to NASL action on Saturday, August 2nd when they travel to New York to take on the New York Cosmos.
On Saturday, August 9, the RailHawks return to WakeMed Soccer Park to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Tickets to the match are on-sale now. For more information about the game or to purchase your tickets, visit www.CarolinaRailHawks.com or call the RailHawks Box Office at 919-459-8144.
