RailHawks Bolster Defense with Acquisition of Mitch Garcia

CARY, NC- The Carolina RailHawks announced today they have added defender Mitch Garcia to the club's permanent roster. A strong left-back, Garcia will be available for selection this week and could make his home debut on Saturday, September 24, as the RailHawks host FC Edmonton. Per club policy, further terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"[Mitch] is someone we had at our open tryout and we've kept track of him," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clarke. "He's a kid with experience who has been around and is hungry for an opportunity, and we feel he deserves that opportunity. He's a left-back that who's very good on the ball, a good passer, good engine and can get up and down the line."

A native of Phoenix, Az., the 27-year-old Garcia recently played for former NASL side Atlanta Silverbacks during the 2015 season.

"I'm here to contribute however I can I'm just excited to be a part of the club," said the RailHawks newest defender. "I work as hard as I can all day, every day, and I'll never stop working."

The five-foot-ten left-back is a product of Grand Canyon University and has previously trained with Polish side Puszcza Niepolomice and Serbian club FK =C4'ukari=C4=8Dki. Before signing with Atlanta, Garcia played with USL PDL's FC Tuscon and Vermont Voltage in 2013.

"[WakeMed Soccer Park] is a great atmosphere," Garcia continued. "I've seen three or four games and the fans are really into it and we get a lot of people out to the games. The local support is great; I go places and everybody knows who we are so it's going to be a fun time."
