Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

GARY, IN July 27, 2015 - At approximately 6:40pm, Brian Boedeker of Chesterton, IN walked through the gates of U. S. Steel Yard, and into the records books, becoming the two millionth fan to see the RailCats play. Founded in 2002, the RailCats are in their 13th year at U. S. Steel Yard. As Boedeker entered the stadium, RailCats longtime PA announcer Tommy Williams let the crowd know that the two millionth fan had entered the park. As the line behind him and the crowd in front of him showered him with applause, the RailCats presented him with a few gifts - a suite upgrade, season tickets for 2015, a weekend mini-plan in 2016, and a plethora of gift cards and services from RailCats partners. "I read about the 2 millionth fan, but I didn't think this would happen to me. I'm stunned at all the gifts and prizes" Boedeker said.

"We are thrilled to have welcomed our 2 millionth fan. This is a testament to the popularity and marvelous brand the Railcats have in Northwest Indiana and beyond. The entire organization will continue to work hard to provide affordable family fun and great baseball" said RailCats owner Pat Salvi. U. S. Steel Yard hosted the RailCats inaugural home opener on May 26th, 2003.

Ballpark Digest's annual ranking of independent baseball team's average attendance listed the RailCats 10th among 48 independent teams with 164,286 fans in 2014. The 3,571 average attendance was a 4% increase from 2013.

The RailCats start their march to three million as they continue their series with the St. Paul Saints Thursday night with the first pitch at 7:10pm. For tickets and Group Outing information call 219-882-2255 or visit www.railcatsbaseball.com
