Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

GARY, Ind. - The RailCats are bringing back the ace of their pitching staff from 2012, as right-hander Stephen Hiscock re-signed with the club on Monday.

After pitching exclusively out of the bullpen to start his career, Hiscock was moved to the starting rotation in early June and put together an impressive season, with a 6-6 record and a team-leading 3.22 ERA, which ranked fifth in the American Association. He was also tied for first on the team in wins, and ranked second in innings pitched (125 2/3) and strikeouts (69).

Hiscock, 25, led the RailCats with 12 quality starts in his 19 outings. He also pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits in a victory on Aug. 9 vs. Amarillo.

The Connecticut native spent the first two seasons of his career in the Tampa Bay Rays organization before the RailCats signed him as a free agent last spring. He has a career record of 10-11 with a 3.78 ERA.

RailCats Opening Day will be on Thursday, May 16 against the Lincoln Saltdogs at U. S. Steel Yard.
