Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release

GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats are bringing a little winter to U. S. Steel Yard this August, announcing that on Hockey Night, Wednesday, August 26 at 7 p.m., the team will be giving away 1,500 collectable Chicago Blackhawks Bats and have ‘Hawks stars on hand signing autographs.

The black Hoosier Bats, sponsored by Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C., will feature the famous Indian Head Blackhawks logo on the barrel of the bat along with the RailCats mark. The custom-made bats will be available to fans of all ages, but only to the first 1,500 to the park. Gates will open at 6 p.m., with season ticket holders able to enter the park 30 minutes earlier - as always - to position themselves at the head of the line.

Two Chicago Blackhawks will also be at the game, signing autographs and interacting with fans. One will be a former ‘Hawks great of years past and the other will be a member of the 2009-10 team. The Blackhawks enjoyed a renaissance season in 2008-09, advancing to the Western Conference Finals.

To complete Hockey Night at U. S. Steel Yard, all fans wearing hockey jerseys - Blackhawks or otherwise - will get $2 off the price of any ticket, and the ‘Cats will have other hockey-themed promotions and activities all night. In addition, it's the last Picture Pack Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans, with the RailCats players pictured that night available on the concourse before the game to sign their photos.
