LAST TIME OUT: The Rail Yard Dawgs allowed three goals in the second period to fall behind and ultimately were beaten by the Quad City Storm, 6-3, Saturday night at TaxSlayer Center.

PLENTY OF MILES COVERED: The Rail Yard Dawgs have spent a lot of time on the bus in the last three weeks. They rode 683 miles from Roanoke to Peoria, where the Dawgs played the Rivermen for three games, then bussed another 91 to the Quad Cities for three games against the Storm. Following a 774 mile jaunt for a pit stop at home in Roanoke, the Dawgs journeyed 721 miles down to Pensacola for the weekend set with the Ice Flyers. Roanoke is in the midst of a stretch of 11 consecutive road games, it has not played at home since February 16 and will not return home until March 22.

THE OTHER GUYS: The Ice Flyers enter the weekend's games as the hottest team in the SPHL. Pensacola has won ten of their last 11 games and five in a row. The Ice Flyers have gotten used to playing close games- 15 of their last 18 games have been one-goal games and they are 12-2-1 during those 15 games. Pensacola is now on the heels of the Rail Yard Dawgs in the standings as the hot streak has pushed their point total to 44 games, four behind the Dawgs and Fayetteville Marksmen, who are tied for sixth. The Ice Flyers occupy the eighth and final SPHL playoff position.

NEW DAWGS: The Rail Yard Dawgs signed forward Adrian Carbonara, added forward Cam Owens on an amateur tryout contract on Thursday morning. Carbonara had been in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Brampton Beast prior to joining the Dawgs. Owens is getting his first taste of pro hockey following the conclusion of his college career at Plattsburgh State.

SWAPPING COLORS: Pensacola's roster features Cal Miska, who was released by the Dawgs on February 28 after playing 16 games and totaling three goals and two assists. In two games for the Ice Flyers he has two goals and an assist. Roanoke's Cody Dion and Jacob Caffrey have each played for Pensacola in the past; Dion 22 games in 15-16 and Caffrey one game in 17-18.

FIVE AT A TIME: Jordan Carvalho scored a goal on Saturday night and now has points in five straight games. It's the sixth time this season a Rail Yard Dawg has had a five-game point streak and the third for Carvalho, who leads the team with 38 points (9 G, 28 A). All six of those point streaks were snapped at five games; Roanoke has not had a skater with a six-game point streak this season.

UP NEXT: The Rail Yard Dawgs and Ice Flyers meet up once again on Saturday night in Pensacola. Puck drop at the Pensacola Bay Center is scheduled for 7:05 PM CST.
