LAST TIME OUT: The Rail Yard Dawgs fell in a 3-0 hole and despite third period goals from Cody Dion and Jeff Jones, they could not climb out as they lost to the Birmingham Bulls, 3-2, Saturday night at Berglund Center. Roanoke's season-long seven-game point streak was snapped in the loss.

THE CHAMPS ARE HERE: The Dawgs welcome the defending champion Huntsville Havoc to town for games on Friday and Saturday night. Roanoke is 1-1-0 against Huntsville this season; it beat the Havoc in Alabama, 4-2, on November 24 before falling at home, 3-2, the next day. The two scheduled games this weekend will complete the season series between the Dawgs and Havoc.

SWITCHING SIDES: Roanoke forward Zach Nieminen opened the season with Huntsville and was claimed off waivers by the Dawgs after the Havoc cut him loose in December. Nieminen played ten games for Huntsville and had three goals and an assist before being let go. He has four goals and seven assists in 21 games with the Rail Yard Dawgs. Nieminen also played three games for the Havoc at the end of the 2017-18 season after finishing his college career at Buffalo State.

PENALTY ASSASSINS: The Rail Yard Dawgs went 10-for-10 on the penalty kill during the weekend set against Birmingham has now killed off their last 22 penalties. They have not allowed a power play goal since Birmingham potted three in a 4-3 overtime loss on January 25. Roanoke's PK sits at 91.4% since the calendar flipped to 2019.

PACK YOUR BAGS: Following Friday and Saturday's games against Huntsville, the Rail Yard Dawgs will play their next 11 games on the road. That begins with a Sunday matinee in Knoxville against the Ice Bears. Roanoke will play three games in three nights this weekend and begin a stretch of four games in five nights next weekend.

HEY NOW, THEY'RE ALL-STARS: The SPHL and The Sin Bin announced on Monday that Dawgs forwards Jordan Carvalho and Colin Murray had been named SPHL All-Stars. The league does not hold an All-Star game, it only names two teams.

HUNTSVILLE'S BIG GUNS: The Havoc employ two of the top six point-getters in the SPHL in Ryan Salkeld and Sy Nutkevitch. Salkeld is second in the league with 41 points and his 18 goals tied for the most in the SPHL. Nutkevitch is tied for fifth with 37 points and his 28 assists place him second in the league.

UP NEXT: The Rail Yard Dawgs and Havoc will meet again on Saturday night at Berglund Center. It's Military Night and the Dawgs will be wearing specialty military-themed jerseys. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Berglund Center.
