LAST TIME OUT: The Rail Yard Dawgs fired a season-high 50 shots on net but Evansville goaltender Braeden Ostepchuk stopped 49 of them and the Dawgs fell in overtime to the Thunderbolts, 2-1, Saturday night at Berglund Center. Cal Miska scored his first SPHL goal for the Dawgs in the loss.

PICKING UP POINTS: Despite falling in overtime, the Rail Yard Dawgs earned points for the sixth consecutive game on Saturday, which is now their longest point streak of the season. The Dawgs have gone 3-0-3 in this stretch which includes an overtime loss and a shootout loss to this weekend's opponents, the Birmingham Bulls. Roanoke's longest winning streak and second-longest point streak came when it won five straight from December 8-22.

THE EVER-CHANGING ROSTER: The Dawgs made two roster moves this week with defenseman Sean Federow being called up to the ECHL's Adirondack Thunder and forward Cameron Dimmitt signed to a contract. Federow had just returned from an eight-game stint in the ECHL with the Toledo Walleye and appeared in both of the Dawgs' games last weekend. He was in the lineup for Adirondack in its 3-1 loss to the Florida Everblades on Wednesday. Dimmitt had been in the FHL with the Watertown Wolves where he had two goals and eight assists in ten games.

PACK THE HOUSE: The Rail Yard Dawgs set a franchise attendance record on Saturday with a crowd of 6,301. That broke the previous record of 6,188, set on October 21, 2016- the first game in franchise history. Roanoke is fifth in the league with an average of 3,420 fans per game but is right on the heels of fourth-place Pensacola, who averages 3,448. The Dawgs averaged 3,360 fans per game in the 2017-18 season.

THE OTHER GUYS: Friday is the fourth of seven scheduled games between the Dawgs and Bulls this season. Roanoke has gone 1-0-2 and won the only prior matchup in Virginia. Birmingham enters play alone in second place in the SPHL, five points clear of Huntsville and Macon in fourth but 12 behind first-place Peoria.

BOMBS AWAY: Roanoke put up a season-high 50 shots on net on Saturday and are averaging 39.7 shots per game in their last three. They'll likely face Birmingham goaltender Mavric Parks on Friday who leads SPHL goaltenders in wins (19), games played (27) and saves (846) and is third in SV% (.928).

ENJOY HOME WHILE YOU CAN...: The Rail Yard Dawgs have now played two of six straight games that will take place at home. Roanoke hosts games at Berglund Center on Friday and Saturday for three consecutive weekends. Following that, the Dawgs will pack their bags for what will be 11 consecutive road games.

UP NEXT: Roanoke and Birmingham will once again match up on Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM at Berglund Center.
