Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, MB. - Fresh off having their club record nineteen game winning streak snapped by the Swift Current Broncos, the league leading Prince Albert Raiders bounced back Friday night dumping the hometown Brandon Wheat Kings 5-2 at Westoba Place.

After scoring the game's first goal during an evenly played, physical opening frame, the Raiders took control in the second, outshooting Brandon 22-7 and outscoring the Wheat Kings 4-1.

The Raiders, who improved to 27-1-0-1 with the win, got goals from five different players in this one - Eric Pearce, Sean Montgomery, Cole Fonstad, Noah Gregor and Ozzy Wiesblatt.

Connor Gutenberg and Ben McCartney replied for the Wheat Kings, who were outshot 41-26.

The loss snapped Brandon's season high four game winning streak and the Wheat Kings record slipped to 14-8-3-3 on the season.

The two teams will complete the weekend home and home series Saturday night in Prince Albert.

Following the game, the Wheat Kings will return home to prepare for next weekend's 2-game series with the Saskatoon Blades.

Brandon will travel to Saskatoon on Friday, before returning home to host the Blades on Shoppers Mall Teddy Bear & Toque Toss Night on Saturday.

Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal or toque to the game and when the Wheat Kings score their first goal they can litter the ice with them.

All on ice donations will then go to the Brandon Westman Christmas Cheer Registry.

Tickets to Saturday's holiday classic go back on sale Saturday morning at 10am in the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order online at keystonecentre.com or by calling (204) 726-3555.
