Raging Tide Split Doubleheader with Dirt Dawgs

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide split the doubleheader with the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs Sunday afternoon winning the first game 3-2 despite getting out hit 7-3. They would lose the second game in extra innings 4-2. Boston Langley (Edmonton, ALB, CA/ Rollins College) went 1-2 in the first game, picking up the teams only RBI and hitting his first home run of the season.

GAME 1

The Dirt Dawgs got on the board first in the top of second inning. Davidson Paquero (Roslindale, MA/ Fisher College) tripled to the right field wall and then scored on a line drive single hit to right field by Derek Gardella (Lathem, NY/ University of Rhode Island)

The Tide would answer in the bottom of second with two outs and no one on as Langley crushed the ball to left center for a solo homerun.

The Tide would score two more runs in the second on an error by the Dirt Dawgs.

Tyler Laverriere (Biddeford, ME/ Saint Joseph's College) picked up the win after pitching six innings, giving up two runs, and striking out four. Tyler Toyfair (Agawam, MA/ UMass Lowell) came in for the seventh inning to record the save.

GAME 2

Saige Jenco (State College, PA/ Virginia Tech) got on base in the bottom of the first with a leadoff bunt, he then proceded to steal second on a pickoff attempt. Colin Gay (Lawrence, MA/ University of Maine) would drive in Jenco on a hit and run to score the first run of the game. Gay would score from third on an error by the short stop on the throw to first after a grounder by Matt Verrier (Norway, ME/ University of Southern Maine.

The Dirt Dawgs would come back in the bottom of the second when Nick Boutoures (Wilmington, MA/ UMass Lowell) doubled over the head of Jenco with one out. Vin Teixeira (Hamden, CT/ Manhattan) hit a shot through the gap to right field scoring Boutoures.

In the top of the third Jake Archey (Darien, CT/ Binghamton University) would hit a solo homer with two outs over the Left field wall to tie the game.

In the top of the eighth with two outs and two runners on, Sean Gannon (Sudbury, MA/ Brown University) would hit a liner to right center scoring two, which would give the Dirt Dawgs the edge to secure the victory.

Tide starter Cole Bryant (Newington, CT/ Southern Connecticut University) picked up a no decision after going five solid innings, giving up two runs, with four strikeouts.

The Raging Tide will be on the road tomorrow in Lynn, MA as they take on the North Shore Navigators, game time scheduled for 7pm.
