Raging Tide Bats Continue to Heat Up, Beat Dirt Dawgs 10-0

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide's bats came alive at The Ballpark tonight, as they defeated the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, 10-0. Sam Balzano (Portland, ME / University of Maine) went 4-4 with a run and two RBI's in the victory.

The Raging Tide were able to push across a run in the first two innings but ideally put the game out of reach in the bottom of third with a six spot on the board. The Tide batting through the entire order, as Tucker White (Deerfield, NH / University of Southern Maine) saw two plate appearances in the inning. White led off the inning with a single up the middle, Alex Farkes (Boston, MA / Penn State University) and Matt Verrier (Norway, ME / University of Southern Maine) then walked, and the bases were quickly loaded. After a sacrifice fly from John Lapoint (Kennebunk, ME / United States Naval Academy), the Tide were able to take full advantage of two costly errors by the Dirt Dawgs, and push across five more runs in the frame.

Dan Fratus (Plymouth, MA / Stonehill College), in just his third game with the Raging Tide homered in the seventh inning on a long fly ball to left center field.

For the Tide, starter Tyler Laverriere (Biddeford, ME / Saint Joseph's College of Maine) lasted five innings, only allowing two hits. He struck out two, and lowered his ERA to an eye-opening 0.98.

For the Dirt Dawgs, Mike Murphy (Warwick, NY / Northeastern University) went 3.2 innings, allowing six hits, nine runs, six earned, seven walks, and he struck out four.

The Raging Tide will look to continue their offensive outburst with a game in Pittsfield on Tuesday at 7pm. They will return home to The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach on this Wednesday against the Nashua Silver Knights. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm.
