Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Rapid City, S.D. - The Rocky Mountain Rage won their fourth road game out of their last five by defeating the Rapid City Rush at the Rushmore Civic Center Plaza, 3-1, behind three different goal scorers and 18 saves from goaltender Marty Magers.
After a scoreless first, the Rage completely controlled the second, out-shooting Rapid City, 21-4, to set a new team record for largest shot margin in a single period. They finally broke through on the score sheet, as well, with both goals coming on scrambles in front of the Rush net. Simon Watson was credited with the first goal at 13:39 on the power play, which was followed 1:03 later by Colt King's fifth of the year out of a similar bit of chaos.
Rocky Mountain began the third by killing off a Rush power play, and then proceeded to extend its lead to 3-0 after King set-up Brent Cullaton from behind the goal for an easy finish on the doorstep at 1:21. Rapid City spoiled Magers' shutout bid at 6:26 of the frame when Rob Dmytruk scored on the power play, but the Rage played smartly the rest of the way to run their record to 2-0-0 against Rapid City this season.
Rocky Mountain has now alternated wins and losses over each of the last seven games and stands at 6-10-1 on the year. Tonight's win gives the club 13 points, moving it into a three-way second-place tie with both the Rush and the Wichita Thunder in the Northwest Division.
The Rage next visit the division's first-place Colorado Eagles on Saturday, Dec. 6, before the team returns home for a two-game set against the Arizona Sundogs on Dec. 10 and 12 at Broomfield Event Center.
Individual tickets for the games against the Sundogs are available for as low as $5 for kids 12 and under (with the purchase of at least one adult ticket) and cost just $10 for students with a valid ID. Tickets may be purchased at the BEC Box Office, www.Ticketmaster.com, charge-by-phone at (303) 830-TIXS, and all Ticketmaster retail outlets.
