Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today added forward Grant Goeckner-Zoeller (GECK-ner ZELL-er). He is expected to be in uniform tonight when the Killer Bees face Laredo at 7 p.m. at the Laredo Entertainment Center.
A 25-year-old Los Angeles native, Goeckner-Zoeller played four years of Div. 1 college hockey at Princeton University. He led the Tigers in scoring twice and finished his college career ranked fifth in school history with 73 assists.
He joins the Killer Bees after beginning the season with the ECHL Fresno Falcons. As a rookie in 2007-08, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound forward played 43 games with the Augusta Lynx and Dayton Bombers (ECHL), collecting 18 points (5-13-18).
"Grant is a big, strong forward who I expect will complement our team nicely," Killer Bees Head Coach Chris Brooks said. "He's a skilled player who I'm familiar with from his time at Princeton."
The Killer Bees begin a three-in-three stretch tonight at the Laredo Entertainment Center against the Bucks at 7 p.m. The team returns home on Friday (vs. Corpus Christi) and Saturday (vs. Arizona), both at 7:30 p.m. The first 1000 fans through the doors Saturday get Killer Bees baseball caps courtesy First National Bank.
