Rage Look To Stop Slide Saturday

RiverCity Rage News Release

St. Charles, MO - The RiverCity Rage Professional Indoor Football Team will look to end their two-game losing streak this Saturday as they welcome the Wichita Wild (0-5) to the Family Arena in St. Charles. The Rage (3-2) have lost their last two games since beginning the season 3-0. Rage head coach Ken Stills believes he has the answer to finding the team's winning ways.

"My mentor, Bob Valesente, the former linebacker coach for the Packers once told me the best way to end a losing streak is to get back to basics," said Stills. "That is what we've been doing all week at practice. We are going to back to the fundamentals - back to the books. We need to get back to tackling, finishing plays, and finishing games. That's what got us to 3-0."

The Rage defeated the Wild, 26-25, in Wichita on March 15th as they came back from a 19-0 halftime deficit. RiverCity overcame 13 penalties for 167 yards and only 39 yards of first half offense to score 26 points in the second half. With the Rage trailing 25-24 and 1:07 remaining in the game, RiverCity defensive lineman Terrell Washington broke through the Wild offensive line on a field goal attempt, blocked the kick, and forced it out of bounds for a game winning safety.

"This is a different team than the one we saw last month," added Stills. "They will have a new quarterback tomorrow and a whole new offensive system. They are new to this league and still learning what best system is for them. Even though they haven't won a game this season, they've been in every one. If they don't turn the ball over six times last week, they would have beat Omaha."

The Wild are right in the middle of the pack in just about every statistical category, both on offense and defense. RiverCity still ranks first in the UIF in scoring defense (32 pts), passing defense (116.6 yds.), and total defense (193.2 yds.). The Rage also boast the league's top two tacklers and league leader in interceptions. Linebacker Joe Bevis leads the UIF with 37 total tackles (37) with safety Ron Rockett ranking second (31.5). Safety Milton Proctor leads the league with six picks.

The kickoff is set for 7:00 with the gates opening at 6:00. Make sure you get to the Family Arena early as the first 1,500 fans will receive a free Rage hat courtesy of American Eagle Credit Union. Great tickets remain for the game with prices starting at just $5. Call (636) 896.4285 or visit ragefootball.com to order your tickets today.
