United Indoor Football Week Seven Preview

Omaha, NE - Welcome to week seven of the United Indoor Football season and re-match weekend. All eight teams will be in action facing off against familiar opponents as each of the home teams were the visitor the last time the teams met. The week kicks off this evening with the Colorado Ice hosting the Sioux City Bandits in a week 5 re-match. On Saturday, the Bloomington Extreme battle the Omaha Beef and the RiverCity Rage welcome the Wichita Wild, with both games being week 2 re-matches. Also, the Billings Outlaws take a trip east on Interstate 90 to face off against their opponent of week 5, the Sioux Falls Storm.

SIOUX CITY (3-2) vs. COLORADO (1-4)

At Loveland, CO

Friday, 7:30 p.m. Mountain

The Colorado Ice complete a two-game homestand by hosting the Sioux City Bandits Friday evening at the Budweiser Events Center at the Ranch. These two teams met in Sioux City on April 5th with the Bandits defeating the Ice 52-29. Colorado will be looking to get back on the winning track as they fell to their geographic rival, the Billings Outlaws, 28-26 on April 10th. The Ice were led by defensive back Dorsey Golston and quarterback Garrett Mehl. Golston, the UIF Defensive Player of the Week, lead the defense with 11 tackles (10 solo and assisted on two) and a tackle for loss. Offensively, Mehl lead the way, completing 14 of 23 passes for 164 yards and three touchdown. Sioux City also would like to get back to their winning ways as well having fell to the Sioux Falls Storm 45-34 last Saturday at the Sioux Falls Arena. Leading the way were defensive back Chad Husted and quarterback Chad Kapanui. Husted made eight tackles (seven solo, two assisted), recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass as well. Kapanui completed 14 of 26 passes, throwing for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

WICHITA (0-5) vs. RIVERCITY (3-2)

At St. Charles, MO

Saturday, 7 p.m. Central

The RiverCity Rage continue their three-game series at the Family Arena, by hosting the Wichita Wild Saturday evening. These teams played in Wichita March 15th with the Rage escaping with a 26-25 win. RiverCity will look to end a two-game losing streak. Last week, the Rage fell to the Bloomington Extreme 41-38 at home. RiverCity was led by linebacker Joe Bevis and quarterback Anthony Fisher. Bevis made eight tackles (1.5 TFL) and 1.5 sacks and also forced a fumble. Fisher had 219 yards of total offense (12 rushing and 207 passing) and four total touchdowns (two rush and two pass). Wichita fell 31-24 to the Omaha Beef on April 10th at the Kansas Coliseum. In the loss, the Wild were led by running back Cliff Edwards and defensive back Eric Smith. Edwards led the team with 57 rushing yards while Smith intercepted a pass, returning it 40 yards for a touchdown.

OMAHA (4-2) vs. BLOOMINGTON (3-3)

At Bloomington, IL

Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Central

The Bloomington Extreme return home to face the Omaha Beef Saturday evening at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. These teams met in Omaha on March 15th with the Beef earning a 52-45 victory. In their last action, the Extreme defeated the RiverCity Rage 41-38 at the Family Arena last Saturday. Bloomington was led by quarterback Dusty Burk and defensive back James Temple. Burk completed 10 of 12 passes for 121 yards and four touchdowns. Temple made ten solo tackles and assisted on three more for a total of 11.5 and also broke up a pass. The Beef are coming off a win as well, a 31-24 victory over the Wichita Wild on April 10th at Kansas Coliseum. Omaha was led by quarterback James McNear and their defense. Offensively, McNear passed for 165 yards and three touchdowns (two to Blake Fuchtman and one to Ken Horton), The Beef's defense intercepted six passes, tying a UIF record.

BILLINGS (4-1) vs. SIOUX FALLS (3-2)

At Sioux Falls, SD Saturday, 7:05 p.m. Central

The Sioux Falls Storm welcome their week five opponent, the Billings Outlaws to the Sioux Falls Arena for a Saturday evening showdown. The teams met just two weeks ago with the Outlaws edging the Storm 38-31 at home. Sioux Falls won last Saturday evening, defeating the Sioux City Bandits 45-34 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Leading the way for the Storm were wide receiver James Terry and the team's defense. Terry, the UIF's Offense Player of the Week, caught eight passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Sioux Falls' defense tallied four sacks, intercepted a pass and also blocked two kicks. The Billings Outlaws defeated the Colorado Ice 28-26 on April 10th at the Budweiser Events Center at the Ranch. Billings was led by defensive lineman Mike Bazemore and quarterback Chris Dixon in the victory. Dixon had 242 yards of total offense (44 rushing and 198 passing) and three total touchdowns (ran for one, passed for two). Bazemore contributed seven tackles (4.5 TFL) and 2.5 sacks and also recovered a fumble to lead the defense.
