RiverCity Rage News Release

St. Charles, MO - After starting the season a perfect 5-0, the River City Rage of United Indoor Football (UIF) have lost their last three games. On Saturday night, the Rage traveled to Wheeling, WV looking to turn things around against the Ohio Valley Greyhounds. The Greyhounds defeated the Rage 55-37.

Ohio Valley notched the first points of the game in unusual fashion. River City's first play from scrimmage was a screen pass intended for WR Hurtis Chinn, who was positioned a yard deep in the end zone. The pass was deflected into the air and out of bounds by a Greyhound lineman resulting in a safety and a 2-0 score in favor of Ohio Valley. Both teams would exchange touchdown runs, a one-yard scamper by Muhammad Abdulqaadir for the Rage and an eight-yard sprint by Keith Brooks for Ohio Valley. The score after the 1st quarter was 8-7, Greyhounds.

The second quarter would bring much more action as both teams traded blow back and forth. Derek Kutz would regain the lead for the Rage by connecting on a 24-yard field goal to make the score 10-7. Brooks answered for Ohio Valley with a four-yard touchdown run, giving the Greyhounds the lead at 15-10. Kutz booted his second field goal of the game moments later from 34 yards out to pull RiverCity within two points. The next Greyhound possession, Darrell Dowery added a 39-yard touchdown reception. Ohio Valley was out in front 22-13. Abdulqaadir scored on another touchdown run, this time from four yards out. John Wehrle would tack on two more field goals to make the halftime score 28-20 in favor of the Greyhounds.

In the third quarter, Oscar Davenport plunged in from a yard out, making the score 35-20 in favor of Ohio Valley. The Rage offense sputtered in the third, moving the ball well, but not finding the end zone. Kutz tagged another field goal for the Rage from 19 yards out, bring RiverCity with 12 at a 35-23 margin. Davenport hooked up with Willie Austin for a 6-yard touchdown to put the Greyhounds up 41-23.

In the fourth quarter, Jamar Culver replaced Anthony Fisher at quarterback for the Rage and did not have much success. Jeff Candler intercepted a Culver pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown, making the score 48-23 Greyhounds. Davenport and Austin would hook up on another touchdown pass to extend the lead to 55-23. Later, the Rage's offense put a couple touchdown drives together, but it was too little, too late. The final score was 55-37 with Ohio Valley coming out on top.

Next up for RiverCity is a road contest in Rockford, IL against the Rock River Raptors on Saturday at 7 p.m. RiverCity defeated the Raptors earlier this year in St. Charles, 58-53. The game can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM Radio, KJFF 1400 AM Radio and also available for streaming online at ragefootball.com.
