
UIF Week Eight Summary

Omaha, NE - Week eight is in the books. The weekend that included an Outlaws win in an Old West shootout; the Greyhounds racing past the Rage, the Storm weathers their 27th opponent in a row to tie a record, the Raptors escape Rupp Arena with a win and the Beef get back to .500.
BILLINGS (42), COLORADO (33)
At Billings, MT
The Billings Outlaws were led by quarterback Chris Dixon who went 12-17 for 176 passing yards and five touchdowns while receiver Anthony Candler finished with six receptions for 92 yards and three touchdowns. The Colorado Ice were led by Tim Pope who had nine catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns. Just as the third quarter began, Robert Reed caught a TD from Dixon to tie the game at 23. The Ice then picked up a score via a pass from Matt Guiterrez to Tim Pope to go ahead 30-23 after the PAT. Candler then caught two of his three touchdowns but after a missed PAT and a missed conversion, the Outlaws only led 35-30. With no time left in the third, Deric Yaussi put the Ice within two with a 39-yard field goal. With 1:25 left in the game, Billings sealed the deal with a 3-yard touchdown run by Anthony Simmons and a Greg Gundersen PAT. The Outlaws will have a bye in week nine and the Ice will host the 2-5 Bandits.
OHIO VALLEY (55), RIVERCITY (37)
At St. Charles, MO
The RiverCity Rage hung with the Ohio Valley Greyhounds until the late in the second quarter when John Wehrle made two straight field goals putting the Greyhounds up 28-20. After halftime, Oscar Davenport ran in from a yard out to extend the lead to 35-20. Derek Kutz then made an 18-yard field goal for the Rage. The Greyhounds then scored on a Willie Austin touchdown catch with 1:13 left in the third, making it 41-23. In the fourth, Jeffery Candler ran back an interception 40 yards to put Ohio Valley up 48-23. Willie Austin added his second touchdown of the night, making it 55-23. The Rage then scored on Muhammad Abdulqaadir's third TD run and Moses Regular caught a 16-yard pass from Anthony Fisher. Leading the way for the Greyhounds was Chandler who finished the game with 10.5 total tackles (2.5) TFL, two sacks and the interception returned for a TD. Abdulqaadir finished with 80 yards rushing and three scores to lead the Rage. In week 9, the Greyhounds will visit the 3-3 Extreme and the Rage will visit the 4-3 Raptors.
SIOUX FALLS (56), SIOUX CITY (31)
At Sioux Falls, SD
The Sioux Falls Storm won their 27th in a row to tie the 2002-03 Ohio Valley Greyhounds for the longest winning streak in professional football. Marcus Smith put the Sioux City Bandits up 19-14 after a 50-yard kickoff return with 12:45 left in the second quarter. The Storm would then go up 24-19 after a field goal and touchdown pass from Terrance Bryant to James Terry. Andre Raymond then regained the lead for the Bandits with a one-yard run, but Mr. Momentum was about to change his address. Zac Gradoville was intercepted by Justin Landis on the conversion pass; running it all the way back putting the Storm up 26-25. The Storm went on to score 23 unanswered between 32 seconds left in the half and 9:39 left in the fourth quarter, making the score 49-25. Allen Burrell caught two 12-yard passes from Bryant during the run. Leaders for the Storm were Burrell who had nine catches for 128 yards and three TD's; defensively, Mark Blackburn and Shannon Poppinga both had interceptions. Sioux City was led by Andre Raymond's three rushing touchdowns and Mike Winklepeck's 10.5 tackles. This week, the Storm will host the 4-4 Beef and the Bandits will travel to face the 4-4 Ice.
ROCK RIVER (42), LEXINGTON (37)
At Lexington, KY
The Rock River Raptors' offense again showed why they are ranked among the leaders in the UIF with Patrick Hall II rushing for three touchdowns and also catching one. The Lexington Horsemen gave up three straight touchdowns to the Raptors to start the game. Lexington couldn't close the gap until 1:24 left in the game when Harry Lewis caught a 23-yard pass from Kewan Dewberry which made the score 35-31 to bring the Horsemen within four, but Collin Barber couldn't convert the PAT. Hall then got his fourth TD of the night on a 28-yard run. After Doug Daniel's PAT it was 42-31. The Horsemen would then score one more touchdown in the game when Dewberry and Lewis connected on a 20-yard pass. The Raptors will host the 5-3 Rage this week, while the Horsemen travel to Evansville to face the 2-5 BlueCats.
OMAHA (41), EVANSVILLE (28)
At Omaha, NE
After falling in their last four games, the Omaha Beef got back on track Sunday to move to .500 on the season. Quarterback John McMenamin went 13-21 for 97 passing yards and two touchdowns. McMenamin, Jamar Day and R.J. Rollins all added rushing touchdowns. Brent Hafford led the Beef with 7.5 tackles while Tito Hannah and Dan Ostransky each added a sack. For the Evansville BlueCats, Richard Johnson went 6-13 for 59 yards, connecting with Michael Cosey and Dale Jennings for touchdowns. The Beef will visit the 7-0 Storm and the BlueCats will meet the 4-3 Horsemen in week nine.
