January 24, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
RiverCity Rage News Release
The RiverCity Rage of the National Indoor Football League announce the signing of Kathy Koehler as a front office Administrative Assistant for the 2006 season. With a background in both business and fundraising, Koehler will assist in sales and community involvement, with a primary focus on youth football and working with corporate sponsors in highlighting the Rage Youth Programs on tap for the coming year. "We are pleased to have Kathy join the Rage family," stated Rage Majority Owner Scott Wilson. "She has been heavily involved with youth football for the past few years and was instrumental in both fundraising and event planning with the Metro Football League. She has great rapport with both the schools and our community, assets that the organization feels will serve well when addressing potential sponsors and working with youngsters anxious to be part of Rage football."
The Metro Football League was founded by former St. Louis Rams player Mike Jones, a hero in Super Bowl XXXIV, whose 12 year NFL career also included playing time with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Oakland Raiders. Koehler was a fundraiser for the Michael Jones Foundation, which assists in providing free football camps and college scholarships for under privileged youth in the St. Louis area. She played a huge role in bringing on corporate sponsorship for the 9th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament and Dinner/Auction for the foundation, which used the funding to assist needy families in a variety of ways.
A St. Louis native, Koehler is a graduate of Ft. Zumwalt High School and attended Maryville College. She is on the Board of Directors for the St. Charles Grizzlies, a youth football program, and currently is Vice-President of the Prime-Time Panthers, another Jr. football team. Last year, she teamed up with Mike Yarbrough, the St. Louis Ram's Manager of Community Outreach and Player Development, to form a Junior Player Development program for youngsters, and offered a free tackle football camp for middle schools, which was sponsored by the NFL. Two more such camps are planned for the near future.
"I'm looking forward to combining a love of football and community involvement to add a new dimension to the RiverCity Rage." said Koehler. "I know this team has made an impact in the market, and now I'm ready to help more companies, schools and young people embrace the team and it's players. We want to really get involved this year with our sponsors and our fans."
Kathy's family includes two children, 12 year old Dylan and 8 year old Maggie.
