
Maulers see bulk of team return

Eighteen of 22 players from the Montgomery Maulers championship team will return to camp for the new season. The Maulers will start the 2006 season on the road March 18. Their opponent is expected to be Monroe, La. The first home game is March 25 at Garrett Coliseum.
Returnees include quarterbacks J. R. Richardson and Dixie Wooton, running backs Sean Holmes and Pat Epkins, wide receiver Machion Sanders, offensive linemen Quincy McCall and duke Viaga defensive linemen Undre Crosby, Cliff Darrington, and the Parham brothers, Jim and Tim, linebackers Jonathan Harrell and Corey Sears, defensive backs Antoine Hill, Jamal Fletcher, Eric Hudson, Archie Smith and Richard Rowe.
Montgomery will begin the season with added fire power in University of Alabama kicker, Brian Bostick. Bostick signed to play the 2006 season with the Maulers in November. He earned three varsity letters as a kicker 2001 through 2004 at Alabama. Bostick was All- SEC Place Kicker and First Team Coaches All-SEC Place Kicker his senior year.
Also adding ammunition to the Maulers arsenal for the new season are two Auburn University players. They are Derrick Graves (linebacker) and Silas Daniels (wide receiver). Graves is a three year letterman for the Tigers seeing action in a total of 48 games in his four year career. Daniels played in a total of 42 games 2001 through 2004 for Auburn.
The Maulers will have their third and final tryout of the year on February 4 at Robert E. Lee High School. "We are inviting several players from the previous tryouts back on the 4th." said Maulers Defensive Coordinator Carlos Clayton. "We want to get one more good look at these guys before camp starts." Assistant Head Coach Mike Williams said he expects fifteen to twenty new athletes to show up at the February 4 tryout.
Teams in the NIFL are allowed only fourteen organized practices before their first game. These are the practices that make up pre-season camp. The Maulers will begin camp on February 27, 2006.
