
Rafters Take on South Division Leaders at Home

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Rafters take on Big Top Baseball rival and leaders of the South Division Madison Mallards for the first time at Witter Field this season. After falling to the Woodchucks in an away series sweep the Rafters are now 13-12 on the season. The Rafters now sit at fifth in the South Division Standings.
During yesterday's matchup Steven Rivas (Long Beach State) blasted two home runs over Athletic Park's right center wall. He was responsible for all four runs scored by the Rafters. He was also selected as the Northwoods League Player of the Night.
The Madison Mallards are currently 20-6 on the season and after besting the Growlers in their matchup yesterday, have reclaimed their title as the South Division leaders. Madison has five Mallards batting above .300. The duck's hot hitter is Jake Randa, he leads the Northwoods League with 27 RBI. He sports a .358 batting average with 20 runs scored on 38 hits and 13 doubles.
The Rafters are currently 1-1 against the Mallards during the 2018 season and 32-40 all-time in the regular season. The Rafters will go for their sixth home win in a row and the upset of the South Division leaders.
On the bump for the Rafters is sophomore right-hander Brecken Lewis (Dixie State). Lewis currently has a 1-1 record after two starts and six total game appearances. He has 7 strikeouts and a 3.44 ERA in 15.2 innings pitched.
Hurling for the Mallards is Justin Watland. Watland sports a 3.70 ERA and a 1-0 record. He has made four appearances for the Mallards, and in 17 innings pitched he has 15 strikeouts and seven walks.
First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. CT at Witter Field.
