Racing Louisville Midfielder Ary Borges Undergoes Successful Knee Scope
May 14, 2024 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Racing Louisville FC News Release
Midfielder Ary Borges underwent a successful knee scope procedure on Monday to clean damage from a meniscus tear in her left knee, Racing Louisville announced Tuesday.
Borges will immediately begin her rehabilitation process with the medical team from Racing Louisville in collaboration with the Brazilian national team and UofL Health. She will remain on Racing's active roster.
"We are wishing Ary a healthy and speedy recovery," said Racing coach Bev Yanez. "We look forward to supporting her through every step of that process and just appreciate her genuine passion for the game."
A 24-year-old Brazil international, Borges has made three appearances for Racing this season, including two starts. She was in line to play in Louisville's May 5 game at Orlando, but she injured her knee in training the day before the match.
Last year, Borges was integral in Racing's run to the 2023 NWSL Challenge Cup final, the club's first appearance in an NWSL knockout tournament title match. She had two goals and one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions.
With Brazil, Borges has six goals and an assist in 25 appearances, including three goals and an assist - all from one game - in three starts at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Louisville's next match is a road game at first-place Kansas City, kicking off at 9:30 p.m. ET Saturday at CPKC Stadium.
