MONARCHS CALDER CUP FUN FACTS
Comeback Kids - The Monarchs come-from-behind 3-2 overtime win in game three on Monday night marked the first time Hershey let a lead slip away this post-season. Prior to Monday's game, the Bears were a perfect 7-0 when scoring the first goal of the game, a perfect 2-0 when leading after the first period and a perfect 3-0 when leading after two periods. Manchester came back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period on Monday night to push overtime and eventually win 3-2.
A Little, But Not Much - Prior to this post-season, the Monarchs stretched a playoff game into overtime 10 times in their franchise history. In four of those contests, the games were decided in double overtime and one game was pushed to triple overtime. Manchester had never won a game in the first overtime until this playoff season and so far they have done it four times in five games. Left wing Bud Holloway has two game-winning overtime goals while defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov and center Justin Azevedo each have an overtime tally. All four of those goals have come within the first five minutes of the overtime period.
Just-in Time - Monarchs center Justin Azevedo scored his third goal of the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs at 2:43 of overtime on Monday night to bring the Eastern Conference series to 2-1 in favor of the Bears. If Azevedo had not scored when he did, Manchester could have found themselves down 3-0 in the series to arguably the best team in the American Hockey League.
