Reading, PA - Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Brett Myers is scheduled to pitch for the Reading Phillies on Major League rehab assignment when the R-Phils take on the Bowie Baysox in a doubleheader on Saturday, August 29. Game one starts at 6:35 PM and gates open at 4:30 PM in the Classic Cafe. Which game Myers will appear in has not been determined.
The R-Phils are battling for a playoff spot in the Eastern League's Southern Division as are Bowie and the Erie SeaWolves.
Myers went on the disabled list on May 30, retroactive to May 28, with a right hip strain.
Before suffering his injury he was 4-3 with a 4.66 ERA in 10 starts for the Phillies. In 63.2 IP he allowed 66 H, 33 R, 33 ER, 20 BB and had 46 SO.
Myers' rehab assignment began August 20. In three games, at Clearwater (8/20), Lakewood (8/24) and Reading (8/26), he's 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He's pitched 4.0 innings, allowed 2 H, 2 BB and has 9 SO. Minor Leaguers are hitting .143 against him.
The Phillies selected Myers with the 12th overall pick in the 1999 draft.
Entering this season he appeared in 222 Major League games, 173 starts, going 69-60 with 21 saves, eight complete games, three shutouts and a 4.37 ERA. In 1,113.0 IP he allowed 1,119 hits, 573 R, 541 ER, 390 BB and had 936 SO.
He pitched for the Gulf Coast Phillies, Piedmont (SAL), Reading (EL) and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (IL) in the Phillies Minor League system. He was a key part of the R-Phils 2001 Eastern League Co-Championship going 13-4 with a 3.87 ERA as a 20-year old who skipped Hi-A Clearwater. Myers also pitched for Clearwater, Reading and Lehigh Valley last year.

Friday rained out, doubleheader set for Saturday
Friday's 7:05 PM game vs. Bowie was rained out and will be made up as a doubleheader on Saturday at 6:35 PM.
Fans holding dated tickets for Friday will be able to exchange those tickets for any of the three remaining regular season home games, or any regular season game in 2010, based on availability. Fans can do so anytime in the future, at the Reading Phillies ticket office or via the mail.
If you had a Comcast general admission ticket for Friday's game, with Comcast printed on it, that ticket will be honored on the rain date that is printed on your ticket, this Sunday August 30 at 6:05. Simply present your ripped ticket stub at the gate Sunday night and you will be admitted. This applies only to the Comcast general admission tickets.
Jersey auction rescheduled
The R-Phils powder blue game jerseys which were to be auctioned off on Friday will now be auctioned off at Sunday's 6:05 PM game due to Friday's rain out.
