(Reading, PA) - The Reading Phillies have announced that Tommy Viola has been named as the new Director of Public Relations/Media Relations.

Viola spent the previous two seasons working for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Last season he handled all in-game media requests, provided statistical and game information, and managed the press facilities at Coca-Cola Park. Also during the season, Viola served as studio host for all 72 road games along the IronPigs radio network. The 28-year-old held the same title during the IronPigs inaugural season in 2008, when he handled studio duties for all 144 games. Currently, Viola is also the host of his own two-hour sports talk radio show every Sunday on 90.3 (WXLV) in the Lehigh Valley.

"We are excited and extremely happy to have Tommy here in Reading," said General Manager Scott Hunsicker. "His skills, along with his previous work experiences will make him a valuable part of an already hard-working and talented staff."

A 2003 graduate of Penn State University where he received a bachelor's degree in Journalism, Viola first broke in to Minor League Baseball during the 2004 season as a photography intern with the Altoona Curve. Born in Brooklyn, NY, but relocated with his family when he was 10-years-old to the Pocono Mountains, Viola is excited for an opportunity to work for the R-Phils.

"This is an opportunity of a lifetime," said Viola. "It's great to continue to work in the Philadelphia Phillies organization and I look forward to working closely with all the local media outlets, fans, and supporters of the R-Phils for many years to come."

Full season and partial season ticket packages for the 2010 season are on sale now and can be purchased in person at FirstEnergy Stadium, by calling (610) 375-8469 or by visiting www.R-Phils.com. "Bring the Fam to America's Classic Ballpark."
