Wenatchee Wild News Release
Before either team set foot on the ice for tonight's match, the series was tied 1-1, the rivalry between both benches was through the roof, and you could cut the tension on the ice with a knife. After the night's events however, the Wild would head back to their locker room with heads held high and spirits even higher. Wenatchee will take this series 2-1 as well as a 3-2 shootout victory. Not only was this a great step for the team, it is showing their immense team growth and perseverance that is excelling them forward throughout the season. With both of the wins this weekend, the Wild are only one point out of tying the Ice Rays for the South Division's 4th place spot and two points out of sending Corpus Christi to 5th place. The gears are in place for the race to #1 and nothing will be stopping the Wild.
Brendan Harris struck first blood eight minutes and twelve seconds into the first period for Wenatchee with a power play goal assisted by Jake Ahlgren and Ivan Bondarenko. Seven minutes later Yannick Vedel tied things up for the Ice Dogs with a short handed goal assisted by Johnny Mueller. Vedel's goal would be the last of the first period.
Fairbanks started the second period off with an unsuccessful penalty shot at 14:31 but they did eventually score the lone point of the middle frame. At 18:26, Chandler Madry fired a successful shot into the back of Wenatchee's net with assistance from Jacob Hetz.
As the end of the game loomed nearer and nearer, points became farther and farther apart. Colin Burston was the only skater to score in the final regulation period. He recorded the game tying goal at 4:26 and had help from both Stevie Bryant and Mike Coyne.
After an overtime period, the game was still tied 2-2 therefore a shootout was needed. Here are the results of that shootout:
Wenatchee:
Jake Ahlgren - yes
David Powlowski - no
Brendan Harris - no
Stevie Bryant - yes
Fairbanks:
Cayden Cahill - no
Ethan Somoza - no
Chandler Madry - yes

Wenatchee ended the game with a 6-8-12-3-1 shot record and was 1 for 4 on the power play. The Wild were whistled on 8 infractions (16 minutes) and penalties went to Shane Cuckovich (High Sticking)x2, Andre Pison (Delay of Game), Troy Conzo (Tripping), Jacob Hamacher (Tripping), Ryan Chiasson (Tripping), Colin Burston (Roughing), and Stevie Bryant (Unsportsmanlike Conduct).
Zach Quinn was an immense asset to the Wild during this game and was able to save 33 shots on goal out of 35 during a full 65 minutes of play.
After the conclusion of this weekend's series, Coach Littler stated, "Couldn't be more proud of this group right now. We took some big punches in the second period but shook them off and came back to win the weekend series from the Ice Dogs for the second time this season. Great effort out of our goaltender Zach Quinn again."
Looking to stay on their win streak, the Wild will be preparing for a three game series versus the league leaders; the Topeka RoadRunners. The series will take place on December 12th, 13th, and 14th and will have start times of 7:05 pm, 7:05 pm, and 6:05 pm. Wenatchee will be playing in Topeka's Kansas ExpoCentre.
