Schaumburg Flyers News Release
SCHAUMBURG, IL - Alain Quijano (4-7) was almost unhittable at Alexian Field and the lefty paved the way for the Flyers' 4-0 win over the Lake County Fielders (31-44) Wednesday night. It was the fourth complete game this season for the Flyers (30-45).
Quijano's lone blemish was a weak infield hit to the left side off the bat of Amos Ramon. Other than that, the southpaw was flawless. It took 116 pitches for Quijano to finish the complete game shutout with seven strikeouts.
The Flyers did their damage in the fourth inning when Travis Brown singled into left center field to give Schaumburg its first hit of the evening off of Lake County starter John Brownell (2-7). Kit Pellow then laced a double into left field to plate Brown and put the Flyers on the board.
Then in the fifth, Ruddy Yan tripled to deep center field, scoring Dylan Parzyk and Tommy Fitzgerald. A batter later, Brandon Newton sent a broken bat grounder to third base. With the infield in, Ramon dove, but the ball glanced off his glove and into left field. Yan scored on the play, pushing the Flyers advantage to four.
Brownell was tagged with the loss, tossing eight innings while allowing four runs. The righty struck out six and walked two.
The Flyers conclude their four game set with the Fielders at Alexian Field Thursday evening. Come out to the park for '70s Night! Brett Harker will take the hill for Schaumburg opposite Lake County's Garry Bakker.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Join Alex Perlman on 1410 WRMN and flyersbaseball.com for all the action as the Flyers take on the Fielders. The Schaumburg Flyers Pregame Show gets rolling at 6:50 PM with the game to follow.
