Quebec's Abraham sold to San Diego Padres

Durham, N.C. -- Quebec righthander Paul Abraham became the second Les Capitales player sold in a week when the San Diego Padres purchased him today and sent him to Peoria, Ariz. for minicamp to await reassignment, most likely to Mobile, the Padres' Double-A club. On June 3, fellow pitcher Jeff Harris was sold to the Seattle Mariners.
Abraham, who was in his first year with Quebec, was 0-1 with three saves in seven appearances. He had an 0.00 earned run average and gave up only three unearned runs on four hits in 6.1 innings of work. In addition, Abraham struck out five and walked three.
Originally, a 12th round pick of the Texas Rangers in 2001, Abraham spent three years in their organization before signing with Quebec in the off season. Last season with Stockton, the Ranger's Single-A affiliate, he went 6-1 with two saves in 57.2 innings.
Abraham is the 23rd NEL alum to appear on an affiliated team's roster this season.
