Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lancaster, CA - Matt Shoemaker struck out eight men over six innings, earning his first victory of the year, as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes defeated the Lancaster JetHawks, winning 9-1 on Friday night at the Hangar in Lancaster.

The win for the Quakes is their second straight, giving them back-to-back wins for the first time this year.

Shoemaker (1-1) allowed a first-inning run, as an RBI groundout by Mark Ori gave Lancaster the early 1-0 lead. That would be all though, as Shoemaker buckled down to scatter seven hits over six innings.

The offense got going in the third, as Alexi Amarista's two-out RBI single scored Ivan Contreras to tie the game at 1-1.

Rancho Cucamonga took the lead for good, scoring four times in the fourth. Dillon Baird's RBI groundout scored Gabe Jacobo to put the Quakes in front 2-1. With two on and one out, Rian Kiniry crushed a Brad Dydalewicz (0-1) pitch way out to right field, his first homer of the year, making it a 5-1 game.

The Quakes added two more in the seventh and two in the ninth to cap the scoring, taking a 9-1 advantage.

That was more than enough for the bullpen, as Robert Fish and Jeremy Haynes combined for three scoreless innings to secure the win.

With the victory, the Quakes (4-5) are now just one game off the pace in the South Division. On Saturday, Rancho Cucamonga looks to make it three straight, sending Manny Flores (0-1) to the mound, as he takes on Lancaster left-hander Shane Wolf (0-1) at 7:00pm.

After the seven game road trip concludes, the Quakes will return to The Epicenter on Thursday, April 22nd, for another Buffalo Wild Wings Thirsty Thursday, as 16oz domestic beers and 20oz sodas will be just $2 each, thanks to Buffalo Wild Wings and X103.9. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter very soon. Go Quakes!
