Quakes Win 7-3 Over Storm

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Quakes put the hitting shoes on early in Monday night's series finale against Lake Elsinore as they plated four runs in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI triple by Drew Toussaint, an RBI double by Larry Infante and a two-run homer by Anderson Rosario to grab a 4-0 lead.

Rancho plated another run in the 3rd after PJ Phillips singled to lead off the inning, he went to third on an error on a ground ball through the legs of second baseman Eric Sogard to put runners on first and third. Mark Trumbo then came up and hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Phillips and take a 5-0 lead.

Alexander Torres made his Quakes debut on Monday and impressed for six innings as he was just one over the minimum through five innings and ended up going six innings allowing just an unearned run on two hits while striking out five.

The Quakes added to their lead in the sixth as they loaded the bases with no outs and got a two run single from Alberto Rosario to swell the lead to 7-1.

The Storm wouldn't be held down as they scored two runs of their own in the top of the seventh against reliever Jordon Towns as he did not retire a batter, a hit by pitch, a single and two walks forcing in the first run. Bobby Cassevah relieved Towns and allowed a sac-fly to Jodam Rivera to bring the score to 7-3. Cassevah stayed in for two innings and allowed just one hit.

David Herndon came in for the ninth and allowed a one out single but retired the Storm after that to close out the game as the Quakes salvaged a game in the three game series.

The Quakes will have a day off Tuesday, but will come back home to the Epicenter on Wednesday and take on the High Desert Mavericks for the first of a three game series. Michael Anton will start for Rancho against right hander Ricky Orta of High Desert at 1:05pm Wednesday.
