
Quakes Walk-Off With Win Over Ports

Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Stockton Ports jumped out to an early lead in Friday night's game. After a one out single, Steve Kleen doubled to center to score the first run. With two outs, Frank Martinez tripled and Matt Smith singled to plate two more runs to make the Ports lead 3-0.
Quakes starter Matt Shoemaker settled into a nice groove after the first, retiring the Ports in order until the 6th, when Steve Kleen hit a solo home run to knock Shoemaker from the game and make the score 4-0.
Rancho's offense couldn't take advantage of seven Pedro Figueroa walks in the first six innings, but got a run across against reliever Jaime Richmond in the 7th. PJ Phillips led off the inning with a single and scored from first on a two-out RBI double by Hector Estrella to make the score 4-1.
Stockton got to reliever Jeremy Haynes in the 8th getting three straight singles to chase him from the game. Taylor Wilding came in with the bases loaded a no outs and allowed a two-run single to center field to Steve Kleen. The throw was cut off then thrown into the seats by Efren Navarro allowing another run to score making it a 7-1 Ports lead.
The Quakes got two back in the 8th as Jay Brossman hit a solo home run and, after two Ports errors and a passed ball, Jeremy Moore was able to scamper home on a wild pitch to make it a 7-3 game.
In the 9th, the Quakes offense woke up as Andrew Romine walked, Hector Estrella singled and Abel Nieves walked to load the bases with no outs. Efren Navarro then struck out before Jay Brossman singled to center to score two runs. With two on and one out, Jeremy Moore got a 1-0 fastball and blasted it over the batter's eye in center field to win the game with a walk-off three-run homer.
The Quakes will continue their series with Stockton Saturday. Left hander Jayson Miller will be on the mound for the Quakes against right hander Scott Hodsdon for the Ports. Game time is scheduled for 7:05pm.
