Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Quakes were unable to recover after a three-run Inland Empire seventh, dropping a 6-5 decision to the 66ers on Saturday night.

Three Rancho fielding errors sparked the three-run seventh for Inland Empire, dropping the Quakes into a tie with Lancaster for third place in the California League South Division, two games back of Lake Elsinore.

The Quakes rallied from two runs down behind an RBI-single from Gavin Lux and a run-scoring groundout from Rylan Bannon, tying the game at two in the third inning.

Logan Landon pushed the Quakes in front with a solo home run in the fourth, his seventh on the season.

Following an RBI single from Cristian Santana in the fifth and a run on an Inland Empire throwing error in the sixth, Rancho entered the seventh with a 5-3 lead.

With Yeison Cespedes on the mound making his California League debut, Rancho would commit three errors, as the 66ers rolled into a pair of RBI groundouts and scored a run from third on an errant pickoff move to first, securing the 6-5 lead.

Rancho opened the ninth inning by putting the tying run at second with a Zack McKinstry double, but reliever Dario Beltre responded by striking out Rancho in order to secure his first save.

The winning pitcher on Saturday night was Brett Hanewich (1-0), who allowed one unearned run over two innings in his first victory of the season

Ryan Moseley opened the game on the mound for the Quakes in his first start of the season and tossed three innings in a no-decision. Cespedes (0-1), who allowed the three-run seventh was charged with the loss.

Following the loss, the Quakes are now 29-33 on the season.

The Quakes will look to avoid the three-game sweep to Inland Empire in the series finale on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 PM. Dustin May (2-3, 5.08 ERA) is scheduled to make the start for Rancho and be opposed by Nate Bertness (1-4, 5.65 ERA) of the 66ers.

The Quakes will become Los Temblores de Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday as apart of the California League Fun Cup. Tickets are available online at rcquakes.com or by calling (909) 481-5000.
