
Quakes Cruise to Win Following Four-Run First

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes put up four runs in the bottom of the first on Tuesday at LoanMart Field and then cruised to a 8-2 win over the Inland Empire 66ers. The Quakes staff held the 66ers to just four hits and a walk and faced three batters in seven of nine innings to improve to 17-6 against IE this season.
The Quakes (60-42, 18-14) scored four runs in the first in which they sent eighth batters to the plate against Jake Jewell (1-10) who started on the mound for Inland Empire. Dodgers' MLB rehabber Kike' Hernandez doubled with one out and started a string of seven straight batters that attacked with the lone out being a on a sac fly and an overzealous baserunner being thrown out on the bases. The Quakes tacked on single runs in the third through sixth innings.
Inland Empire (33-69, 10-22) got its only runs in the second inning against Dodgers' prospect Grant Holmes when Hutton Moyer smacked a two-run homer to left field. It was his eighth homer of the year. David Fletcher had two hits for the 66ers and extended his hitting streak to 19 games.
Edwin Rios had three hits for the Quakes and eight of nine men in the lineup had at least one base hit as part of the 13-hit onslaught. Holmes improved to 8-3 on the year with five innings striking out three with no walks.
